On Saturday April 27th CrossFit 609 raised $865 for the Navy SEAL Foundation ‘One Team One Fight’ initiative. The money was raised by gym members completing a grueling CrossFit workout called “Murph”. Owner and trainer Joe Pappano has completed the Murph every Memorial Day weekend for the past 3 years and this year was the largest turnout. The workout is called “Murph” in memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005. This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor”. Many of the SU4S members felt like they were in a car accident after doing the workout, it was no joke!
StandUP4SEALs is honored and humbled by the contribution owner and trainer Joe Pappano has made to truly supporting the Naval Special Warfare Community. CrossFit 609 is a Gold Sponsor and we highly encourage all friends of StandUP4SEALs to support our sponsors! Look for the CrossFit 609 team at the StandUP4SEALs race this Memorial Day Weekend Saturday May 25th.
