“In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock. ” – Thomas Jefferson
At SU4S we couldn’t help but notice that the Pentagon is proposing a reduction in the size of the U.S. Army to its smallest manpower since before WWII and scrapping a class of Air Force jets. Don’t get us wrong we believe in realistic budgets and good old fashioned common sense and we ofcourse expect the same from our leadership in Washington.
- A reduction to 450,000 would be the Army’s smallest size since 1940, before the United States entered World War Two, when it counted a troop strength of 267,767, according to Army figures. The Army’s previous post-World War Two low was 479,426 in 1999.
